About Me
I’m Kathi Griffis and the dog in the picture is Buddy.
My first mentor, my grandmother, painted in oils and had a way with color that I am still trying to emulate. She was also my teacher and my first critic. I learned so much from her!
In high school, I discovered graphic arts and photography (thank you, Mr. Schwarze!). In college, I studied graphic design and earned a BFA with an emphasis in graphics. I still enjoy the fine arts and have dabbled in painting, but I prefer the dryer media, my favorite being pastels.
I am always honing my fine art skills and continue keeping up with the latest trends in computer graphics. I love learning new things and have recently experimented in combining my graphics background with the fine arts in “digital” painting.
Neither my grandma nor Mr. Schwarze are here to encourage and inspire me, but I feel their presence when I am making my art. My ultimate goal is that my art brings the recipient as much joy as it brought me to make it.
